ABSTRACT
It is reported a case of a 14 year old male patient, suffering from a chronic haemophilic arthropathy and recurrent hemarthrosis of the left knee. During six months this was managed through conservative therapy. The follow-up, however, showed losing range of motion which correlated with clinical and radiographic evidence of progressive changes of the haemophilic arthropathy. Because of this, it was decided to perform arthroscopic synovectomy. The purpose of this paper is to report the long term follow-up (2 year post-operative) of one patient who had undergone arthroscopic synovectomy of the knee. The evaluation showed knee gained extension ranging from (-20° -0°), and flexion (50°-100°). Until that time he had not acute recurrent bleeding episodes. The technique of arthroscopic synovectomy for chronic haemophilic arthropathy was considered as an alternative to the open method with satisfactory results. There is not experience with radioactive synoviorthesis in Mexico, prevailing conservative technique.
