ABSTRACT
Objective: To determine the utility of the treatment with average Kotz and the
magnetic bed in the decrease of the fat in patient with abdominal obesity.
Method: He/she was carried out a prospective quasi experimental study in 60
patients with abdominal obesity and hiperlipidemia coming from the consultation of
internal medicine of the University Hospital "Dr. Carlos J Finlay" from July 2011-July
2012. Before and after the treatment they were carried out complete physical
exam, the abdominal circumference was measured. He/she was also carried out
cholesterol and triglycerides. All the patients only received treatment with magnetic
and average bed Kotz in abdomen during 15 min each one, for a total of 30
sessions. The prosecution of the results was carried out with the student test, the
non parametric test of Wilcoxon (you give birth to even of Wilcoxon) with an error
type 1 (p ‹ 0,05), for the hypothesis tests it was used intervals of trust to 95 %
(IC 95 %).
Results: The most frequent thing found in the sample was bigger than 40 years of
the feminine sex and the white race and the pathological antecedent the arterial
hypertension. After the treatment the patients diminished the corporal weight in
5,215 kg, the abdominal circumference in 10 cm or more, the IMC in 2, 0333 kg/
m
2. The cholesterol diminished in 1.46083 mmol/L and the triglycerides in 1,01017
mmol/L 100 % of the patients presented good arterial tensions, that which was
highly significant in the statistical analysis.
Conclusions: The magnetic field and the average Kotz were effective in the
treatment of most patients with abdominal obesity, when diminishing the
abdominal circumference, to take to good figures the arterial tension and to
diminish the IMC, as well as the figures of cholesterol and triglycerides at the end of
30 treatment sessions.
