ABSTRACT
Background: young patients with acute myocardial infarction are a special challenge for health systems because of the deep repercussion that it causes from the psychological and economic points of view.
Objective: to present the cases of three patients younger that 45 years old with acute myocardial infarction, as well as the cardiovascular risks that were founded.
Clinical case: case 1 A forty-two-year-old male patient with a history of high blood pressure that started with a precordial pain of two days of evolution and moderate intensity that appeared when making moderate physical effort. The pain intensified so the patient came to the emergency room. Case 2 A thirty-seven-year-old male patient with a history of non-treated high blood pressure, obesity, smoking habits and high levels of triglycerides came to the emergency room with precordial pain that appeared suddenly after making an intense physical effort. The pain spread to the neck, jaw and left arm; the patient also presented perspiration, coldness and felt like dying. Case 3 A thirty-eight-year-old female patient with a history of type two diabetes mellitus and high blood pressure that after going to the consultation of the family physician and to the consultation of the internist presenting precordial pain is sent to the consultation of cardiology with the same diagnosis for being studied.
Conclusions: high blood pressure, dyslipidemia, type two diabetes mellitus and obesity were detected as risk factors, along with the family history of first order of cardiopathy in patients younger than 50 years old.
