ABSTRACT
A cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out, with the aim of assessing psychological wellbeing in primary caregivers of cancer patients in the palliative care phase, belonging to the South polyclinic of Ciego de Avila, from September 2010 to April 2011. It worked with a sample of 15 caregivers during the investigation. It was started from the scientific problem. How is the psychological wellbeing of the primary caregivers of cancer patients in the palliative care phase? To meet the goals, a semistructured interview, Anxiety Inventory trait and state, Depression Inventory trait and state, list of indicators of vulnerability to stress, Short Zarit on caregiver burden and psychological well-being Questionnaire were applied; that led to the conclusion that 86.6% of caregivers had an intense overload, the most frequently psychological factors showed were: depression and anxiety as a state, thus the dissatisfaction in personal and family areas entailed to a low psychological well-being.REFERENCES
