ABSTRACT
In general there is a lack of knowledge among the medical
community about the advantages of the use of cardiac
magnetic resonance in specific clinical settings. This article
focuses on explanation of general cardiovascular imaging
employing a conventional MRI system. Emphasis is made on
image plane, pulse sequences, electrocardiographic gaiting
and employed protocols.
The studies of 14 patient were use to illustrate the CMRI
applications, all performed using a standard protocol, and
blind read by a radiologist. Findings were compared against
the final diagnosis on clinical record.
CVMRI is an accurate and safe alternative for the morphologic
and functional evaluation of the heart and the great vessels.
Its use should increase in medical institutions with this resource.
