ABSTRACT
Benign stenosis of biliary tract is an uncommon complication
of Cholecystectomy even if it is by laparotomy or laparoscopic.
Eight years ago, at the Hospital General de México,
in the Vascular and Interventional Department, we have
treated 30 patients with this problem, by a simple percutaneous
colangiography and biliary-digestive derivation, with
sequential changes of catheters from an 8 to a 20 fr. during
a period of 18 to 24 months. In this paper we report our long
term results with this kind of treatment. We use this technique
because we have seen that the biliary tract plasty, after
surgical lesions, is very difficult to performed and the results
are very poor. Sometimes we use it during the initial percutaneous
cholangyography, but not as a unique procedure itself.
Our results show that this technique was successful in
80 % of our patients.
