ABSTRACT
We present two cases of a low grade
laryngeal chondrosarcoma, both located
in the cricoid cartilage, which were
diagnosed by computed tomography
and were confirmed by histopathologic
examination. This is a rare tumor and
corresponds to 1% of the larynx
neoplasias. An extensive review of the
subject in the literature was conducted,
focused on diagnosis and imaging
characteristics of this tumor. A
laryngeal chondrosarcoma should be
considered when evaluating a
subglottic tumor, included beneath
the laryngeal cartilage expanded by
the mass, which presents calcifications
and a strong enhancement after
contrast administration. It must be
differentiated from other tumoral
masses, such as epithelial tumors,
vascular lesions, polyps and benign
neoplasias of the larynx.
