ABSTRACT
Between 2 and 5% of the general population ever consulted in her life related causes for flank pain. Within the initial assessment and diagnostic approach, there is a wide possibility of diseases that could explain the cause of the pain. Clinical findings are usually nonspecific and are where the images has become increasingly important in the evaluation of patients with low back pain tool. We describe the case of a young man 21 years old, with unknown medical history, who consults for abdominal pain a day evolution, sudden onset, located in right lower abdomen and lower back associated with nausea, vomiting and hyperpigmented urine. The evaluation by the emergency physician not urolithiasis classic ultrasound findings were found but marked hydronephrosis of the right side were evidenced. A diagnosis of ureteropelvic stricture was finally performed. Renal ultrasound by emergency physician allows for rapid diagnosis and helps to define the patient’s disposal agile, help avoid the need for further radiological images and improve patient flow in the emergency room.
