ABSTRACT
Acute pulmonary edema is a rare and potentially fatal complication during pregnancy. It develops in patients with underlying cardiovascular disease, they can not compensate for the physiological stress of pregnancy or pregnancy complication. It is a process characterized by excessive accumulation of fluid in the pulmonary interstitium and alveolar spaces, which prevents diffusion of both oxygen and carbon dioxide. It has been reported that complicates 0.08 to 0.5% of pregnancies. However, when pulmonary edema occurs as a comorbid preeclampsia, a process is associated with a substantial perinatal mortality.
