ABSTRACT
Cuba has made progress in the development of traditional and natural medicine, but there are no publications about the impact of those results. Integration of traditional and natural treatment modes and systems into the health care services of armies in other countries is a topic of great interest. The purpose of the present study is to review the current status of traditional / complementary and alternative medicine in military health care around the world. The paper includes some statistics about the use of traditional / complementary and alternative medicine by military personnel, veterans and their relatives, as well as the projections of some armies with respect to the topic and examples of research work done, including its application in natural disaster situations. A presentation is made of the advantages of these treatment modes in the military sector, and recommendations proposed for its future development. Analysis of these topics allows reflection on the value of traditional and natural medicine in the training of military physicians in Cuba, and on the application of these resources in a variety of exceptional situations. It is concluded that traditional / complementary and alternative medicine is currently used in the military sector around the world.REFERENCES
