Epidemiology of breast cancer in men treated at Centro Médico Nacional 20 de Noviembre

ABSTRACT
Objective: To assess incidence, and prevalence of male breast cancer in
clinical and surgical oncology in 10 years at National Medical Center
20 de Noviembre.
Material and methods: Retrospective review of the electronic file,
determining every year, 2003-2013, the number of men; and cases of
male breast cancer, to determine incidence and prevalence.
Results: From 2003 to 2013, 7 patients with male breast cancer. The lowest
incidence jointly was zero from 2003-2007, rising to 125/100 000 in
2009-2010 declined to zero until 2012-2013 to 55/100 000. Prevalence
reached a peak in 2009-2010 with 312/100 000, declining and then
increased in 2012-2013 to 221/100 000. 1 malignant fibrous histiocitoma,
6 adenocarcinoma, 5 had tumor tissue.
Conclusions: progressive increase in prevalence of male breast cancer
in clinical and surgical oncology in the last decade.
