Morbility for dentinal hyperesthesia in patients assisted at the “Nutrition” Odontologic Service. Yacuruy State

ABSTRACT
It was performed a descriptive and transversal investigation to determine some aspects of morbility for dentinal hyperesthesia in patients from the Nutrition Odontologic Service, since may, 2007 to the 2010. The universe was about 90 patients, the variables used were: age, sex, the most affected area of the tooth, pain intensity and the causes of the dentinal hyperesthesia. The data was gathered in the clinical record, there were used statistical and mathematic methods. As a result, the 55% of the male sex and the group of 60 years and older, with 51.1%, were the most affected group. The patients presented periodontal retraction in the cervical tertius with 86.65 and the acute pain with 53.3%. The most frequent causes were the absence of the antagonist teeth and the wrong placed prosthesis with 14.4%. As conclusions, the male sex and the group of 60 years and older, the dentinal hyperesthesia in the cervical tertius, the acute pain and the teeth absence, were the prevailing factors.REFERENCES
