ABSTRACT
The Health institutions need to develop the skills in the new tools of the information and knowledge, it is necessary to prepare the professionals in the use of the available databases that facilitate these processes. Aim: To determine the use and management of the EBSCO database, the potential users of the Medical Sciences Information Center of Granma. Method: it was used the exploratory and descriptive investigation, there were selected 20 potential users, inserted in some mastery studies. As a result, it was evidenced that the 35 % had knowledge about the existence of the database and 65 % did not have it, what showed the existing ignorance in this regard. Only 40 % used the database to solve the assistance incognite and 25 % for academic works, what evidenced that all of the potentialities were not highly explored, regarding its use, the 30 % stated that they had limited skills, and in 10 %, these skills were good. Conclusions: It was proved that professionals did not improved the necessary skills and competences to access and explore the possibilities that EBSCO offer. Recommendations: To strengthen and improve the skills to explore the EBSCO database, by means of a methodological proposal that designs training courses to obtain high levels of competition and results of quality in the efficient fullfilment of the information management.REFERENCES
