ABSTRACT
Despite the tremendous advancement of the distance education worldwide, medical sciences in Cuba does not have implemented this teaching modality as it was expected. The Medical Sciences University of Havana, with its highly experienced faculty and with the recent history of the university polyclinics project that led to the creation of semi face-to-face teaching modalities, is interested in developing distance learning. To this end, the main objective is to define the elements of a new strategy aimed at developing a sustainable system of quality control for the upgrading of professionals at a distance in accordance with the internationalization process of higher education. This strategy should include the development of the management of several processes that will assure an integrated system for the functioning of distance education, the personalized attention and the methodological preparation of the professors in charge of this teaching modality; it will also provide support to the technological infrastructure, the processes of quality offers and implementation as well as their sustainability.REFERENCES
