ABSTRACT
This paper aims to analyze how the implementation of an organizational structure under the format of service lines in a tertiary medical center focuses everybody’s –doctors’, nurses’ and other health professionals’– work in the specific needs of the patient in order to achieve better results in his/her care, and to demonstrate that a hospital with a structure of service lines and physicians organized in societies, such as «group medical practice», results in a better operational and clinical performance than that of those hospitals structured by departments and individual medical practice –as most of the hospitals in Mexico are today–, due to the easiness in the generation, management and monitoring of the information needed. This paper presents the implementation work of the Neurology Service Line and the impact in its management indicators.REFERENCES
