ABSTRACT
In private health institutions in Mexico, physician recruitment has not been part of the strategic planning of the organization; however, today the ABC Medical Center has developed a methodology for physician recruitment. The methodology is focused on strategic goals as part of the institutional objectives. It is a team effort between the administration staff and the medical staff. Covering the needs of both areas allows the institutional development. On the basis of improving quality and safety of care for our patients, and the plans for organic and expansion growth, The ABC Medical Center implemented in 2012 an institutional methodology for physician recruitment through the Chief Medical Officer Office. This methodology is based on the analysis of the following variables: 1. Occupation (days/patient) of installed capacity (days/bed) by service line. 2. Medical replacement by productive years after 65 years old. 3. Identification of physician leaders for professional development. 4. Requirements by service line in accordance with its own business plan, and the institutional business plan. 5. Assignment of medical offices within the institution. Results: Increase in productivity in days/patient from 2012 to 2013: 8%. Compliance of physicians recruited in 2013: 99%. Conclusions: Implementing the methodology for medical recruitment in the ABC Medical Center ensures continuity of patient care aligned to the values of the institution, and ensures patient safety and quality of the services provided, maintaining attachment with the strategic plans of the organization.REFERENCES
