ABSTRACT
It was conducted a retrospective descriptive study of patients enrolled in the Prevention program of blindness from ROP that were treated at the Neonatal Care fom "Mariana Grajales" Gynecoobstetric University Hospital of Santa Clara city, Villa Clara Province during the years 2002-2012; The study universe was conformed by all the recently born admited in the service that fulfilled the approaches of inclusion of investigation in the sample were considered all those who were diagnosed with some degree of the disease. This research defines its incidence in the province (7.9%), the behavior of the major risk factors such as oxygen therapy, respiratory distress syndrome and associated infections; also, it is required the number of children that needed surgical treatment (12) and monitoring and individualized attention in subsequent years, so this is part of the development goals for the millennium of the United Nations linked to the implementation of VISION 2020.REFERENCES
