ABSTRACT
Objective: To describe the compartment the aspects epidemiologists, clinics and the factors associates to the prognostic in
patients’ whit stroke due to atherotrombotic cerebral infarction.
Methods: A descriptive study of 130 patients whit diagnostic of stroke due to atherotrombotic cerebral infarction whit
treatment in the Units the Attention to Grave in the Hospital Universitary "Manuel Ascunce Domenech" of Camagüey from
January 1st 2010 to December 31, 2010.
Results: The masculine sex (55.81 %), age range of 70 to 79 years (33.84 %) and the hypertension predominated (45.38 %). The patients were consciousness in the admission and the best clinic evolution predominated too. Patient’s with moderate clinic situation, evolution to the improvement (40 %). The cerebral media artery of the dominant hemisphere was
the more affected (46.15%).
Conclusions: The masculine sex, the arterial hypertension, the tobacco’s habit and age after 70 years are factors related
with stroke due to atherotrombotic cerebral infarct. The state of conscience and the admission clinical situation were related
with clinical evolution. The cerebral media artery territory of the dominant hemisphere is the main localization of these
infarctions.
