Use of Fluoroquinolones in children

ABSTRACT

In this text we make a review of the main characteristics of quinolones, their indications, adverse effects and restrictions.
Even though quinolones were not used at all in children during some years because it was thought that they affected the growth cartilage, in general it can be considered that they are well tolerated and secure, allowing their use in and out the hospital. Although, they must be used in threatening situations and not routinely in mild infections.
