Late ophthalmologic complications of Stevens-Johnson syndrome. Case presentation

ABSTRACT
Introduction: the mucosinequiants illnesses affect skin and mucous with vesiclesampullary lesions, they are generally bilateral and autoimmune, distorts the anatomy of the conjunctive, eyelids and lachrymal drainage structures and they lead to sicca keratoconjunctivitis; Stevens-Johnson syndrome is considered one of them.Objective: to present a treatment option in a late ophthalmologic complication of the mucosinequiants illnesses.
Case Presentation: a male of 45 years-old that refers tears and sensation of strange body in both eyes with diagnosis of late ophthalmologic complications Stevens-Johnson syndrome: Trichiasis, distichiasis, blepharitis, corneal vascularization, corneal opacity and sicca keratoconjunctivitis. Resection of a posterior plate of the up and down eyelids was carried out in both eyes and the implant of buccal mucous was placed in right eye (RE) and the implant of amniotic membrane in left eye (LE) as surgical treatment. Medical treatment was prescribed with artificial tears and ophthalmic ointment. The patient's achieved a satisfactory evolution.
Conclusion: the transplant of buccal mucous and of amniotic membrane are options in the treatment of the complications of the mucosinequiants illnesses. These illnesses bear great conjunctive deterioration and are bilateral. For this reason they are not possible to use autologous implants as treatment.
