ABSTRACT
Atopic dermatitis (DA) is a
chronic inflammatory and
pruritic disease characterized
by the impairment of the skin
barrier function, increased
oxidative cellular stress and
microorganism colonization.
Its usual course is typified
by multiple flare ups and
remissions and symptoms tend
to improve with age. It is a
complex multifactorial disease,
so its treatment requires not
only pharmacotherapy, but
also skin care and the removal
of causative and exacerbating
factors.
