ABSTRACT
PPH is an obstetric emergency
that may occur after vaginal
delivery or cesarean section,
being the most important
cause of mortality in the world.
Traditionally PPH defined as
estimated blood loss of 500 ml
or more after vaginal delivery
or equal to or more than 1000
mL after cesarean delivery.
A PPH clinically defined as
excessive bleeding patient
becomes symptomatic and signs
of hypovolemia as hypotension,
tachycardia, oliguria, and
decreased oxygen saturation
below 95%. As mnemonic
describes four “T”: tone, tissue,
trauma and thrombin. The most
important treatment of PPH
is prediction and prevention.
Uterine atony is the most
common cause of bleeding, the
goal of the first interventions is
to ensure uterine contraction.
