ABSTRACT
Diagnosis of diseases with restrictive pattern of relaxation represents a clinical challenge in everyday practice. Traditionally, diagnosis was based on echocardiograph data and invasive measurement of intracavitary pressures. However, the emergence of cardiac magnetic resonance has created a different scenario where non-invasive evaluation is used increasingly. We present the case of a peasant, 51 years of age, who presented dyspnea, edema of lower limbs, and nausea. With echocardiogram, myocardial perfusion by nuclear medicine, cardiac catheterization, cardiac magnetic resonance, and simple tomography the patient was diagnosed with constrictive pericarditis. The patient underwent partial pericardiectomy and his evolution has been satisfactory.REFERENCES
