ABSTRACT
Menopause is characterized by amenorrhea for 1 year due to suspension of ovarian function and life expectancy of
women is now higher from it, so it is necessary to ensure quality of life, hormone therapy contributes greatly to the welfare
of the health of these women, hormone therapy during menopause has changed significantly since 2002. Current studies
suggest that individual treatment is low dose of estrogen and used the shortest time, but involve risks that must be reported
to determine if the benefits are greater, hormonal therapy is acceptable and safe in healthy women at the end of the fifth
decade of life or within 10 years of starting menopause. Hormonal management should be individualized on risks and
benefits based on new evidence-based recommendations for use, that may change over time.
