Adenoarcinoid tumor in vater´s ampolla and Von Recklinghausen disease

ABSTRACT

We report a 45 years old man with neurofibromatosis type I, he arrived to emergency room with jaundice, fever and weight loss; on physical examination the patient was jaundice and with multiples cutaneous lesion typical of neurofibromatosis. Colangiopancreatography (CPRE) showed a tumor in Vater´s ampulla, we places a biliary prosthesis. Biopsy was negative. The angio-TAC showed a nodular lesion of 1.8cm near to the head of pancreas. After recovery he received surgery. A cephalic pancreatoduodenectomy was made. Pathological study revealed an adenocarcinoid tumor of vater´s ampulla. We describe the clinical characteristics of this entity as well as this uncommon localization.
