ABSTRACT
In fibromyalgia, the oxidative stress is notable in his pathophysiology. The hyperbaric medicine produces hyperoxia, decreasing the reactive species of the oxygen. It made an investigation to evaluate the efficiency of the treatment with hyperbaric chamber in patients with Fibromyalgia, clinical trial pilot type, using clinical and epidemiological methods, of longitudinal cut, prospective time from January 2011 to July 2012. It included 20 patients treated with hyperbaric chamber in three cycles, of 10 sessions, every three months. It evaluated quality by means of the test Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire and looked for the apparition of adverse events. The age bracket with greater prevalence of fibromyalgia was 40-49 years, favorable relationship to the feminine sex, predominate divorced civil state, university school level and with labor work. The 90 % had satisfactory answer to the treatment. It did not report toxicity.
We conclude the study backs to use hyperbaric chamber in the treatment of Fibromyalgia. Additional wider studies are required.
