Tonsillectomy with harmonic scalpel: 10 years experience

ABSTRACT
Tonsillectomy is one of the most common surgical procedures in otolaryngology. Through the years different methods have been described for this procedure, new technologies in surgery has not been ignored in this field. Technique with harmonic scalpel tonsillectomy, 10 years experience with this technique and the results of the authors is presented. Cross-sectional study of a sample of 176 procedures performed. The results are discussed highlighting the low incidence of complications such as bleeding only occurred in three patients (1.7%), the results are discussed in comparison with other techniques such as cold dissection technical and bipolar forceps.
