ABSTRACT
The surgical treatment of the anal fissure is composed of diverse techniques. In this work the results of the EIL are compared with later medial mucous anoplasty without sphincterotomy. Patients and methods: Observational Study, with 182 patients treated in the 2nd CCQ and in Private Clinics, during 8 years. The complications were revised with each technique, by a follow-up of 3 years on average. Results: Anoplasty without sphincterotomy was practiced in 85 patients. Lateral internal sphincterotomy was practiced in 97 patients. There were two cases of recurrence in each technique. There were 3.5% alterations of the continence with the anoplasty without sphincterotomy and 9.2% with the EIL. Conclusions: The recurrence is comparable in both techniques. The dysfunctions of the continence are more frequent with the EIL.
