Psychosocial factors and depression in the gravidity-puerperal period

ABSTRACT
Introduction: the depressive disorders affect to millions of people in the world,with a major incidence in women.Objective: to establish therelationship among factors psychosocial factors and depression presence in a female group admitted at the Service of Perinatal Mental Health of the psychiatry center José Gali Garcia from the” Teaching General Hospital Enrique Cabrera” during the period July 1st , 2011 to June 30th, 2012.
Methods: a descriptive and retrospective study was carried out on 25 womenfrom 19 to 49 years (14 of them were pregnant and 11 were in the puerperalstage). Through the interview and the application of the clinical method were written the clinical histories. The diagnosis was established according to Internacional Classification of Diseases -10.
Results: the 35.8% of the patients were diagnosed with depressive disorders, 8 of them from Artemisa province (32%).The 44 % was the group with 20 to 25 years old. A total of 11 pregnant women (44%) plannedand desired her pregnancy,7 of them (50 %) presented symptoms in their 2nd pregnancy trimester and 5 (46 %) the ones in the puerperal stage that were admitted with symptoms since their second month.
Conclusions: the depressive-adaptation prevailsthat with thedepression caused after are more frequently t on women who planned and desired pregnancy.
