ABSTRACT
Itch is an unpleasant sensation that induces the desire to scratch, it is caused by chemical mediators and different stimulus on neural receptors. It is essential to understand its physiopathology due to the great impact that it has on patient’s quality of life; besides sometimes it is the only or the most important clinical manifestation of cutaneous or systemic disease. The physiopathology of itch is of great importance for the development of new and more strategic antipruritic therapies.
