ABSTRACT
Inverted papilloma is a benign mucosa neoplasm of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses. It arises typically from the lateral wall of the nasal cavity and often extends into the maxillary and ethmoid sinuses. It is characterized by the tendency to recur after incomplete removal, and is associated with risk of malignancy. The purpose of this article is to report the surgical success and results achieved with the combined endoscopic and conventional treatment in a case of a massive inverted papilloma. This same intervention is the first reported in Ecuador. Another purpose is to review the overall situation of this pathology with the literature and support the benefits of combined management in similar cases.
