ABSTRACT
Sepsis remains a threat for the course of patient presenting with extensive burns given its immunosuppression condition. Many factors are identified favoring the development and microbial growth; nowadays there are changes in the flora prevalent in the unit of the «Hermanos Ameijeiras» Clinical Surgical Hospital characterized by antimicrobial resistance and more aggressive behavior. The objective of present paper is to make a review of the distinctive features of the disease due to burns placing patient in conditions favorable to develop infection and/or sepsis identified as high consumers of antimicrobials, however, morbidity and
mortality due a septic cause is high. We conclude that the better therapy is that aimed to prevention of infection and sepsis.
