ABSTRACT
The emphysematous pyelonephritis is a necrotizing infection of the
renal parenchyma which especially affects diabetics with poor control
of their disease. It is a serious condition, rare but carries a high mortality
despite early diagnosis and aggressive treatment. The condition can be
in the renal parenchyma tissue collector and/or perinephritic tissues;
therefore requires a high suspicion based on clinical diagnosis. Here
we report a case with typical clinical prognostic factors emphasizing
the clinical and radiological diagnosis, and a brief review of the subject.
