ABSTRACT
Diabetic mastopathy is a benign condition seen in long standing insulin-dependent type-I diabetic women. These lesions are mainly composed of fibrosis and tissue swelling, therefore named lymphocytic mastitis, diabetic fibrous mastopathy, lymphocytic mastopathy. Soler and Khardori described it in 1984. A 51 year-old male with long-standing type-2 diabetes controlled with oral hypoglycemic drugs, without relevant family history, who came to the hospital with a left retroareolar breast lump, two-month old on his left breast, his lump is firm, painless, mobile, with no secretion and without axillary lymphadenopathy. The other armpit is normal. Ultrasonography revealed a heterogeneous tumor with irregular borders. We performed excisional biopsy that confirmed diabetic mastopathy in the histopathological sample.
