ABSTRACT
It is well known the topic propolis use in the treatment of different skin diseases and wounds; in all this cases this product accelerates healing process and protects against infection because of it antimicrobial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory properties. It is also known the use of honey in folk medicine in bed sores dressing. Bed sores are defined as skin necrotic areas developed mainly in patients lying in bed for long periods. These lesions are difficult to heal due to the inefficacy of traditional treatment. Objective: The topic use of a mixture of honey and propolis for dressing patient with bed sores and to substitute synthetic products for those national of natural origin. Method: It was a case study, under qualitative methodology perspective, of two patients with bed sores dressed treated with honey and propolis. Applied methods were historic, inquiry. It was respected the family and patient informed consent. Results: Patients’ bed sore evolves to complete healing process accordingly the planned; it is possible to substitute satisfactorily synthetic products by this national of natural origin. Conclusions: It was demonstrated that honey and propolis dressing of bed sores is effective and that honey and propolis mixture reaches a higher antibacterial and healing effect of those national natural products, to treat refractory wounds to any other conventional treatment.REFERENCES
