ABSTRACT
The giant cell tumor of tendon sheath comprises approximately 1.6% of all soft-tissue tumors; it is characteristically a solitary bening peritendinous fibrous mass, tipically localized on the tendon sheath of small joints of the hands and feet. The lesion commonly presents as a slow-growing mass, with or without pain. These lesions in MRI are tipically isointense and have low intensity on T1 and T2 weighted images, due to the hemosiderin deposition and colagene, which result in blooming artifacts on gradient echo images. The purpose of presenting this case is because of, the low incidence reported in international literature of this type of lesion in the patellar tendon, and due to the importance of preoperative diagnosis in magnetic resonance imaging.
