ABSTRACT

Necrotizing fasciitis is a rare complication that appears as consequence of surgical or traumatic events, but is also usually seen secondary to cutaneous infection and loxocelism. Due to its being a real sepsis, intensive care and surgical measures are fundamental for survival.
Case report: Four-month-old male baby who had undergone a laparotomy due to colon perforation secondary to intussusception and developed a necrotizing fasciitis over 30% of his body surface. For total recovery plastic surgery was not necessary. This complication is rare, but elicits alarm.
