ABSTRACT
Background: Distal triceps
rupture is an uncommon
injury. It is most often
associated with anabolic
steroid use, weight lifting and
laceration. Eccentric loading
of a contracting triceps has
been implicated, particularly
in professional athletes. Initial
diagnosis include loss of elbow
extension, pain and swelling.
Plain radiographs confirm
diagnosis, althought MRI and
CT are helpful.
Methods: case report study of
a patient with complete tear of
the distal triceps tendon.
Results: surgical repair is
indicated in active persons with
complete tears. Complete elbow
extension was achieve with
surgical treatment.
