ABSTRACT
Insulinoma is a rare
neuroendocrine tumor, with
an incidence of 4 per 1 million
persons with an average age
of presentation between 40-45
years; mainly women. Most
of them are benign; they are
frequently a part of multiple
endocrine neoplasia type 1; the
main clinical manifestations
are neuroglycopenic and
hypoglycemic symptons
including Whipple triad;
diagnosis is mainly made
with CT, MRI, endoscopic US
besides the measurement of
blood concentration of insulin,
peptide C and proinsuline;
surgical excision of the tumor is
the definite treatment.
