ABSTRACT
Bleeding esophageal var ices is the most dreaded complication of portal hypertension
and requires the completion of emergency endoscopy where the therapeutic option
of choice is banding; these sets are disposable and expensive for our economic
conditions. As a device for tracing the links from the original. The aim of this study
was to determine the utility of the adapter created was created. A prospective
descriptive study was conducted in 28 patients with bleeding esophageal varices
who underwent banding with links comebacks. Ma inly males 17 (60.7%) , aged
under 50 years and hepatitis C, 8 (28.5%) , when the etiology was related to the
degree of hepatic impairment there was a tendency for the hepatitis C patients show
a higher degree of hepatic impairment Child B 3 (37.5%) and C5 (62.5%). More
sessions ligation was required in patients with major hepatic impairment (Child C 5
and 6 sessions.) Complications occurred in 6 patients (21.4%). The overall
recurrence rate was 7.14%. It was concluded that the adapter trace leagues, is an
alternative for patients requiring ligation of esophageal varices.
