ABSTRACT
Background: There are different theoretical models, concepts and instruments for exploring positive variables of the worker´s personality acting as the way of worker´s protecting resources in front of psycho-social occupational stress. The exiting relations between those vari-ables allow thinking on possibility of building an instrument for theirs study.
Objective: Building out a positive indicators questionnaire using four instruments as the raw, exploring: psychological wellbeing, self-esteem, optimism and hardiness.
Material and methods: The original questionnaires were applied to 127 workers of different occu-pations and a factorial analysis using the principal axis method for theirs 55 items was done. Those showing higher factorial charge for each of the extracted factors like as eigenvalues higher than 1 were selected and taking into account their content a BOAR with 27 items was created. The BOAR was applied to 281 workers.
Results: Some associations between variables were identified and the relations were centralized by the self-esteem. In consequence, the factorial structure of the BOAR was not evident. The BOAR homogeneity was shown since its internal consistence with a Cronbach Alpha equal 0.8473.
Conclusions and recommendations: In populations screening the BOAR is a questionnaire that allows exploring positive variables of the workers. Although the internal consistence of the BOAR as an instrument was confirmed its continuo validation using an external criteria is required as well as checking for its stability.
