ABSTRACT
Objective: To analyze the behaviour of the medical consultation for workers open in the specialized ambulatory centre (SAC) ‘Héroes de Playa Girón’ of the general university hospital ‘Dr. Gustavo Aldereguía Lima’ of the city of Cienfuegos during 2011. Method: In the new consultation for workers of the SAC, an individual clinical record was made up for each worker, and these obtained data and those from a specific medical interrogation were processed with the program SPSS, version 12,0 for Windows. The results were expressed in tables and graphics for better understanding. Results: The half age of the workpeople studied in the centre was from 40,57 ± 12,71 years old, predominating the women. Occupational category most represented in the consultation was the relative to the workmen (57,7 %). Sick person’s group predominated; 24,5 % of the workers were smokers, the occupational physical hazard were the more frequent; 16,80 % were hypertensive; and 71 workers were ignorant of suffering diseases that were them diagnosed during the consultation. Conclusions: Worker’s consultation is an opportunity to prevent and to decrease accidents and work-related diseases, besides a guaranty to upgrade life and health and contributing to the increment of economic efficiency.REFERENCES
