Deaths due to occupational hazards in 2006, 2007, and 2008 in the state of Jalisco, México

ABSTRACT
An analysis of deaths in the state of Jalisco resulting from occupational hazards during the years 2006, 2007 and 2008 was carried out, concluding that the number of this type of deaths were 90, 112 and 115, respectively, with the purpose of finding patterns and assessing any comparison found between them. Occupational health hazard formats were reviewed at the Health Information Division of the Mexican Social Security Institute. The review showed a total of 145 949 occupational hazard events, classified as follows: 121 200 occupational accidents; 24 370 commuting accidents, 379 occupational illnesses and 317 deaths during this period. The year 2008 had the highest number of occupational accidents (47 999), 9 286 commuting accidents, 185 occupational illnesses, and 115 deaths. The deaths were caused by occupational accidents (100) and commuting accidents (15). According to the type of injury and gender, 48 males died in 2008.REFERENCES
