ABSTRACT
In patients with severe HF
survival and quality of
life is quite limited. Heart
transplantation is the only
option available that provides
some individual benefit. With
just over 3000 heart donors per
year, the epidemiological impact
on the affected population is
trivial. Satisfactory results
of transplantation and its
limitations are until today,
the major search engines
for alternatives in replacing
myocardial function.
