ABSTRACT
Dog bites injuries in people
are the most common of bites,
followed by cat bites. 90% of
injuries in adults occur in the
body and only 10% in the head
and neck. The wounds of less
than 12 hours and in edematous
limbs, are often affected
by Pasteurella spp., where
antibiotic prophylaxis with
amoxicillin - clavulanic acid is
the recommended treatment. A
promptly assessment and early
treatment can prevent wound
complications and minimize
post-traumatic stress after the
event.
