ABSTRACT
Pancreatitis is one of the most
common diseases of the digestive
system. The main etiology
corresponds with alcohol intake
and gallstones, but in developing
countries the possibility of a
parasitic infection must be
evaluated like a common cause.
Reported is a case of a 16 yearold
female patient with a history
of cholecystectomy who was
admitted with abdominal pain.
During her hospital stay, she
vomited Ascaris lumbricoides
leading to the diagnosis of
secondary pancreatitis due to
bile duct obstruction by the
parasite which was confirmed
with radiological studies. Also
mentioned the management
provided to the patient and
treatment options.
