ABSTRACT
Background: The gastrointestinal anastomosis dehiscence is one
of the most feared complications by the surgeon. It can occur in
different ways, ranging from localized forms or diffuse peritonitis.
There are isolated cases of intestinal perforations in the literature
that are manifested as a scrotal swelling. The prerequisite is the
ductus vaginal peritoneum.
Clinical case: Male with fistula secondary to diverticulitis
enterovesical is performing a scheduled surgery for subtotal
colectomy with ileo-rectal anastomosis. Readmitted after
twenty days of hospital discharge scrotal abscess. A computed
tomography scan revealed a dehiscence of the anastomosis
as the source of the abscess. Resolved surgically, the patient
evolved favorably.
Conclusion: It is important to establish a correct differential
diagnosis in the presence of a scrotal abscess, and to remember
the extraordinary intra-abdominal pathology as a cause. Computed
tomography is the imaging test with higher sensitivity and specificity
in defining the etiology and raise the appropriate treatment.
