ABSTRACT
Zygomycetosis is an angioinvasive mycotic infection in which the most common isolated species are Rhizopus and Mucor. It is most commonly seen in patients with diabetes, leukemia and in post-transplanted patients. This paper reports the clinical case of an 83-year-old woman with diabetes mellitus and hypertension who arrived with diarrhea and vomit of two weeks evolution with clinical findings compatible with a condensation syndrome. The evolution was not satisfactory even though having an adequate antibiotic scheme. Infection by Rhizopus was discovered post mortem.REFERENCES
