ABSTRACT
Introduction: the discipline of Morphophysiology is susceptible of systematic scientific inquiry and improvement since the curriculum is subject to ongoing research as a way to ensure its continuous improvement. Objective: Methods: an observational, cross-sectional descriptive study, with a qualitative approach, was conducted at the Faculty of Medicine of Villa Clara during the academic year 2012-2013. General theoretical methods were used, in interaction with documentary analysis, which was the main empirical method.
Results: the reviewed programs conform formally to the minimum established requirements. However, there is an incomplete formulation of the systems of objectives and skills, some level of disorientation in their construction, overlap between the two systems, shortcomings in methodological guidelines to develop the skills, and shortcomings in the evaluation systems when verifying the results. This situation, as a whole, causes a rupture in the systemic approach of the teaching-learning process of the discipline.
Conclusions: the systems of objectives and skills that were reviewed have different inconsistencies in their conception and also show deficiencies in other areas of the syllabus that affect the achievement of the expected results.
