ABSTRACT
Pulp necrosis is common in patients who come to the clinic at Endodoncia de la Facultad de Odontología de la Universidad Autónoma de Coahuila Unidad Torreón, the treatment is root canal sealer, however, in some cases the injury continued, thus proposing the use of drugs that applied via local prior to treatment reduce the amount of bacteria raising the percentage of treatment success. The main purpose is to determine the efficacy of minocycline, calcium hydroxide applied locally, and instrumentation and irrigation with sodium hypochlorite. These samples were taken from 75 patients divided into three groups of 25; samples were initially taken from each of the groups, were incubated, seeded and the units forming colonies counted (UFC). Minocycline was placed on the first group and left for 24 hours; the second group instrumented and irrigated with sodium hypochlorite for five days and calcium hydroxide was put on the third group for five days. A second sample, it was incubated, seeded and the UFCs counted to establish the efficacy. Results: Minociclyne rates of 84.31%, calcium hydroxide 51.0%, sodium hypochlorite 76.56%, however requires five days to achieve the effect that minocycline achieved within 24 hours.
